You can use this applesauce as a healthy snack or a topping for oatmeal, yoghurt, pancakes, or even as a substitute for oil in baked goods. Applesauce is low in calories, fat-free, and has a low glycemic index, which means it can help regulate blood sugar levels and prevent sugar cravings.

Give this delicious applesauce recipe that will make your taste buds dance with joy a try. Trust me, you'll love it!

Quick & Simple Applesauce Recipe

Yield: 500ml Prep Time: 10 mins Cooking Time: 30-35 mins

Ingredients

  • 8 medium-sized apples, peeled and diced

  • 1/2 cup water

  • 1/4 cup honey

  • 1 tsp cinnamon

  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg

Instructions

  1. In a large pot, combine the apples, water, honey, cinnamon, and nutmeg.

  2. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium-high heat.

  3. Reduce the heat and let it simmer for 20-25 minutes or until the apples are soft and can be easily mashed with a fork.

  4. Remove from heat and let it cool for a few minutes.

  5. Mash the apples with a fork or use an immersion blender to puree until smooth.

  6. Taste and adjust the sweetness and spice level according to your preference.

Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week.

Notes:

  • For a chunkier texture, leave some apple pieces unmashed.

  • You can use maple syrup or agave nectar instead of honey.

  • Add a pinch of salt to enhance the flavour.

  • You can also add other spices like ginger, cloves, or allspice.

  • To make a larger batch, double or triple the recipe.

  • If you prefer a sweeter applesauce, use sweet apples like Honeycrisp or Gala.

  • If you want a tangier applesauce, use tart apples like Granny Smith.

  • Experiment with different flavour combinations like adding cranberries, raisins, or vanilla extract.
