About the Recipe

Everybody loves lemonade! Right? 😊 When you spice things up by adding in some passion fruit to your lemonade, then you're in for a super special refreshing treat!

Passion fruit is a tropical fruit that belongs to the Passiflora family. This exotic fruit is a good source of fibre, vitamins, and minerals. One passion fruit contains about 17 calories, making it a low-calorie fruit that can be added to your diet without any guilt. They are mainly grown in South America, Australia, and India, and are available year-round in most supermarkets.

Now, passion fruit comes in two types: yellow and purple. They're both great, of course, but the difference is that the yellow passion fruit is more tart and acidic, while the purple variety is sweeter. Both types of passion fruit are rich in vitamin C, vitamin A, fibre, and antioxidants. They have a unique flavour that is both sweet and tangy, which makes them perfect for juices, smoothies, and desserts.

Now, let's talk about this passion fruit lemonade recipe. To make this delicious drink, you will need fresh passion fruit pulp, lemon juice, honey, and water. To make it healthier, you can substitute the honey with agave syrup. You can also add some mint leaves or basil for an extra burst of flavour.

To make the passion fruit lemonade, scoop out the passion fruit pulp and mix it with freshly squeezed lemon juice. Add the sweetener of your choice and mix well. Pour the mixture into a pitcher and add water to dilute the mixture. Stir well and add ice cubes to serve. And viola! Refreshing sugar-free goodness in a glass.

  • 1 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice (about 6 lemons)

  • 1/2 cup passion fruit puree

  • 1/2 cup honey

  • 4 cups cold water

  • Ice cubes

  • Lemon slices and fresh mint leaves for garnish

  1. In a large pitcher, whisk together the lemon juice, passion fruit puree, and honey until well combined.

  2. Add the cold water and stir until everything is mixed together.

  3. Fill glasses with ice cubes and pour the lemonade over the ice.

  4. Garnish with lemon slices and mint leaves and serve immediately.

  • If you can't find passion fruit puree, you can use frozen passion fruit pulp (thawed) or fresh passion fruit (scoop out the pulp and discard the seeds).

  • Adjust the amount of honey according to your taste preference.

  • For a fizzy version, top with soda water or sparkling water.

  • To make it boozy, add a shot of rum or vodka to each glass.
