About the Recipe

Oh, mangoes! This juicy tropical fruit is the perfect balance of sweet and tart. They belong to the cashew family, which is nuts (get it?). One medium-sized mango has about 100 calories, so you can indulge guilt-free. They're grown in tropical climates, so think Southeast Asia, South America, and the Caribbean. There are many types of mangoes, from Ataulfo to Tommy Atkins, each with its own unique flavor and texture. But one thing they all have in common is their impressive nutritional value. Mangoes are loaded with fibre, vitamin A, and immune-boosting vitamin C. They also have antioxidants that protect against free radical damage, anti-inflammatory properties, and anti-cancer effects. And let's not forget that they improve sleep, vision, and gut health. Mangoes are usually available from March to July, so make sure to get your fix during the summer months.

Nothing beats the taste of fresh, juicy mangoes in a refreshing drink that is perfect for any time of the day. Get ready to indulge in the sweet, tropical flavour of this delicious drink that will transport your taste buds straight to paradise.

Ingredients

  • 2 ripe mangoes, peeled and chopped

  • 1 cup of water

  • 1 tsp honey (optional)

  • 1 lime, juiced

  • Ice cubes

Preparation

  1. In a blender, combine the chopped mangoes, water, honey, and lime juice. Blend until smooth.

  2. Add ice cubes to the blender and blend again until the mixture is slushy and frothy.

  3. Pour the mango juice into glasses and serve chilled.

Notes:

  • You can adjust the sweetness of the juice by adding more or less honey according to your taste.

  • For a creamier texture, you can add a dollop of coconut milk or yoghurt to the mixture.

  • This recipe is perfect for hot summer days, but it's so delicious that you'll want to enjoy it all year round!

  • Feel free to add a dash of rum or vodka to the mix for a boozy twist on this tropical drink. Cheers!
